DOH-Marion Hosts World Breastfeeding Week Celebration

DOH-Marion invites parents, families, and expectant parents to attend the National Breastfeeding Week celebration on Wednesday, August 5, at the Southeastern Livestock Pavilion in Ocala.
Participants will learn how to respond to cardiopulmonary emergencies until first responders arrive and how to assist a choking victim.
The Back to School Bash will offer no-cost services, including school readiness checks and services by DOH-Marion, physicals provided by the Estella Byrd Whiteman Community Health Center, bike helmet fittings and giveaways, and more.
DOH-Marion cautions the public of the presence of blue-green algae in Lake Bryant Resort Dock on June 11. Water sample testing is underway.
As the excitement builds, the Florida Department of Health in Marion County offers safety tips for heat and hydration, water activities, animal safety, food preparation, and a reminder to pace yourself.
DOH-Marion Issues Rabies Alert

Rabies alert is in response to a confirmed case of rabies in a raccoon that was killed in the Ocala area off SE 8th St. in Marion County on May 11, 2026.
DOH-Marion has issued a health alert for the presence of harmful blue-green algae toxins in Orange Lake - Eagles Nest Dock. The alert is in response to a water sample taken on May 6.
