The Florida Department of Health in Marion County (DOH-Marion) continually evaluates the health of county residents by measuring local data. That data helps describe the overall health of our community.
DOH-Marion and AdventHealth Ocala collaborated with over 20 local partner agencies to produce the 2023-2026 Marion County Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP).
The CHIP is a long-term project that helps address health needs and is used to create a community health needs assessment (CHNA). The CHNA includes data and information from multiple sources, which describe the community’s:
- Demographics
- Health status
- Morbidity and mortality
- Socioeconomic characteristics
- Quality of life
- Community resources
- Behavioral factors
- Built environment
- And other health status measures of Marion County
Marion County updates its CHIP annually and produces a new CHNA and a new CHIP every three years.
