BRAZEN is the positive youth development program of the Florida Department of Health in Marion County. The program educates various audiences, mostly ages 11–18, on healthy decision-making.

BRAZEN works alongside schools, community organizations, and families in Marion County to equip youth with the skills they need to make healthy decisions and thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Our goal is to build awareness, character, and self-confidence among youth.

BRAZEN presents to:

  • Middle and high schools
  • Faith-based organizations
  • Youth-focused community organizations
  • Adult and parent groups
  • and more!

Presentations are one to eight hours, depending on the needs of the group.

Presentation Topics:

  • Positive Youth Development – Helping youth make healthy and informed decisions.
  • Goal Setting – Guiding youth to identify their strengths and develop actionable steps to achieve their goals.
  • Communication – Encouraging effective and healthy communication between youth and parents.
  • Resilience – Teaching youth how to adapt to challenges, overcome setbacks, and maintain a positive mindset even in difficult situations.
  • Stress Management and Coping Skills – Teaching youth to recognize when they are stressed and use practical strategies to handle stress in healthy ways.
  • Bullying Prevention – Promoting respect, empathy, and safe behavior among peers while equipping youth with strategies to recognize, prevent, and respond to bullying.
  • Youth Leadership – Encouraging confidence, responsibility, and initiative in personal and community settings.
  • Social media and Internet Safety – Educating youth on safe and responsible online behavior and how to spot potential social media dangers.
