DOH-Marion announces November, December test dates, provides COVID-19 update

OCALA, Fla.—Marion County is reporting 10,630 cumulative cases of COVID-19 as of this afternoon. This is an increase of 37 cases from yesterday (Oct. 22). Of Marion COVID-19 tests from Oct. 22, 4.16% were positive; the county’s cumulative positive test rate is 12.97%. The daily positivity rate for all new COVID-19 tests in Florida on Oct. 22 was 4%; the state’s cumulative positive test rate is 13.17%.

From COVID-19 cases reported Oct. 17–23, Marion saw an average of:

  • 40.7 new cases reported per day
  • 1 COVID-19 related death reported per day
  • 5.23% daily positivity rate

From cases reported Oct. 1 to 16, Marion saw an average of:

  • 35.7 new cases reported per day
  • 2.8 COVID-19 related deaths reported per day
  • 4.6% daily positivity rate

 November and December testing dates announced

The Department of Health in Marion County will be providing free, drive-through COVID-19 testing at the Southeastern Livestock Pavilion on the following dates in the weeks ahead:

  • Oct. 27 and 28
  • Nov. 3, 4, 17, 18, 24 and 25
  • Dec. 1, 2, 8, 9, 15, 16, 22, 23, 29 and 30

Testing will be held from 8 to 10 am. at the Livestock Pavilion (2232 NE Jacksonville Road, Ocala). People who would like to be tested can line their vehicles up starting at 7:30 a.m. on each testing day. Testing will run until 10 a.m. or until the day’s available samples are all used, whichever comes first. To be tested, individuals should bring a valid photo ID; minors under age 18 will only be tested if they are accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

People should be prepared for to stay in their vehicles while waiting for testing; restroom facilities will not be available. Only people who are being tested should be in the vehicle, with the exception of parents, guardians or caregivers. No pets are permitted in the vehicle during tests.
