OCALA, Fla.—The Department of Health in Marion County is changing its drive-through COVID-19 testing schedule at the Southeastern Livestock Pavilion beginning Sept. 1.

Testing is scheduled to be available at the Livestock Pavilion on the following dates in September:

• Sept. 1 and 2
• Sept. 8 and 9
• Sept. 14, 15 and 16
• Sept. 21, 22 and 23
• Sept. 28, 29 and 30

Testing is scheduled to be available at the Livestock Pavilion on the following dates in October:

• Oct. 5, 6 and 7
• Oct. 12, 13 and 14
• Oct. 26, 27 and 28

Testing will be held from 8 to 10 am. at the Livestock Pavilion (2232 NE Jacksonville Road, Ocala) on the scheduled dates. People who would like to be tested can line their vehicles up starting at 7:30 a.m. on each testing day. Testing will run until 10 a.m. or until the day’s available samples are all used, whichever comes first. To be tested, individuals should bring a valid photo ID; minors under age 18 will only be tested if they are accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

People should be prepared for to stay in their vehicles while waiting for testing; restroom facilities will not be available. Only people who are being tested should be in the vehicle, with the exception of parents, guardians or caregivers. No pets are permitted in the vehicle during tests.

Case Updates

The county is reporting 8,321 cumulative cases of COVID-19 as of this afternoon. This is an increase of 60 cases since yesterday (Aug. 27).

Of Marion COVID-19 tests from Aug. 27, 6.79% were positive; the county’s cumulative positive test rate is 13.59%. The daily positivity rate for all new COVID-19 tests in Florida on Aug. 27 was 5.73%; the state’s cumulative positive rate is 13.52%.

New COVID-19 related deaths

The most recent individuals to have passed away after contracting COVID-19 include: 

• 85-year-old female from Ocala
• 73-year-old male from Ocala
• 79-year-old male from Summerfield
• 70-year-old male from Ocala

Each had underlying health conditions. A total of 169 Marion County residents have died after testing positive for COVID-19. They ranged in age from 32 years old to 98 years old.
