DOH-Marion provides COVID-19 update (Aug. 26)

OCALA, Fla.—Marion County is reporting 8,172 cumulative cases of COVID-19 as of this afternoon. This is an increase of 80 cases since yesterday (Aug. 25).
Of Marion COVID-19 tests from Aug. 25, 9.36% were positive; the county’s cumulative positive test rate is 13.56%. The daily positivity rate for all new COVID-19 tests in Florida on Aug. 25 was 5.75%; the state’s cumulative positive rate is 13.53%.
New COVID-19 related deaths
The most recent individuals to have passed away after contracting COVID-19 include:
- 56-year-old female from Summerfield
- 64-year-old male from Anthony
- 68-year-old male from Ocala
- 69-year-old male from Ocala
- 76-year-old female from Ocala
- 78-year-old female from Ocala
- 84-year-old female from Ocala
- 85-year-old female from Ocala
- 86-year-old male from Ocala
- 88-year-old male from Ocala
- 92-year-old female from Ocala
- 92-year-old female from Ocala
- 95-year-old male from Ocala
Five of the deaths were reported on Tuesday, and eight were reported today. Each had underlying health conditions. A total of 156 Marion County residents have died after testing positive for COVID-19. They ranged in age from 32 years old to 98 years old.
