DOH-Marion provides COVID-19 update (Aug. 9)

OCALA, Fla.—Marion County is reporting 6,511 cumulative cases of COVID-19 as of this afternoon. This is an increase of 251 cases since yesterday (Aug. 8); 73 of today’s cases were correctional-related.

Of Marion COVID-19 tests from Aug. 8, 13.9% were positive; the county’s cumulative positive test rate is 12.42%. The daily positivity rate for all new COVID-19 tests in Florida on Aug. 8 was 8.46%; the state’s most recent cumulative positive rate is 13.35%.

A total of 89 Marion County residents have died after testing positive for COVID-19. They ranged in age from 32 years old to 98 years old. All but three of the COVID-19 linked deaths in Marion County reported underlying health conditions.
