OCALA, Fla.— Marion County is reporting 3,928 cumulative cases of COVID-19 as of this afternoon. This is an increase of 347 cases since yesterday (July 27). More than 260 of today’s cases are from correctional facilities.

Of Marion COVID-19 tests from July 27, 23.6% were positive; the county’s cumulative positive test rate is 9.6%. The daily positivity rate for all new COVID-19 tests in Florida on July 27 was 11.69%; the state’s cumulative positive rate is 12.68%. Individuals who tested positive for the virus have ranged in age from 4 days old to 99 years old.

New COVID-19 related death

A 79-year-old Ocala man has passed away after contracting COVID-19. He had underlying health conditions. A total of 51 individuals have now died after becoming ill with the virus. They range in age from 32 to 98.
