DOH-Marion provides COVID-19 update (July 21)

OCALA, Fla.—Marion County is reporting 2,721 cumulative cases of COVID-19 as of this afternoon. This is: 

  • An addition of 171 cases since yesterday (July 20)
  • An increase of 1,994 cases since July 1

Of Marion COVID-19 tests from July 20, 23.3% were positive. The daily positivity rate for all new COVID-19 tests in Florida on July 20 was 13.62%. Individuals who tested positive for the virus have ranged in age from 4 days old to 99 years old.

Three new COVID-19 related deaths

Three Marion County residents have passed away after contracting COVID-19, all with underlying health conditions:

  • 90-year-old male from Ocala
  • 98-year-old female from Silver Springs
  • 56-year-old male from Ocala

A total of 33 individuals have died in Marion County after becoming ill with the virus. They range in age from 32 to 98.
