DOH-Marion provides COVID-19 update (July 19)

OCALA, Fla.—Marion County is reporting 2,423 cumulative cases of COVID-19 as of this afternoon. This is: 

  • An addition of 164 cases since yesterday (July 18)
  • An increase of 1,696 cases since July 1

Of Marion COVID-19 tests from July 18, 15.1% were positive. The county’s cumulative positive test rate is 6.9%. The daily positivity rate for all new COVID-19 tests in Florida on July 18 was 11.85%. The state’s cumulative positive test rate is 11.64%. To date, 35,189 COVID-19 tests have been given in Marion County. Individuals who tested positive for the virus have ranged in age from 4 days old to 99 years old.

New COVID-19 related deaths

An 83-year-old male and a 91-year-old male have passed away after contracting COVID-19. Both had underlying health conditions.

A total of 29 individuals have died in Marion County after becoming ill with the virus. They range in age from 32 to 96.
