DOH-Marion provides COVID-19 update (July 18)

OCALA, Fla.— Marion County is reporting 2,259 cumulative cases of COVID-19 as of this afternoon. This is:
- An addition of 103 cases since yesterday (July 17)
- An increase of 1,532 cases since July 1
Of Marion COVID-19 tests from July 17, 10.8% were positive. The county’s cumulative positive test rate is 6.5%. The daily positivity rate for all new COVID-19 tests in Florida on July 17 was 12.17%. The state’s cumulative positive test rate is 11.5%. To date, 34,472 COVID-19 tests have been given in Marion County. Individuals who tested positive for the virus have ranged in age from 4 days old to 99 years old.
New COVID-19 related deaths
Eight residents have passed away after contracting COVID-19, all with underlying health conditions. This brings the total number of Marion County residents to die after becoming ill with the virus to 27.
