DOH-Marion Partners with the Commission to Offer Free Breast Cancer Screenings

By Florida Department of Health

April 30, 2024

Ocala, Fla. — The Florida Department of Health in Marion County (DOH-Marion) and the Marion County Board of County Commissioners (Commission) are providing free breast cancer screenings to women in the community.

The partners seek to emphasize the importance of early detection in diagnosing and treating breast cancer

DOH-Marion has arranged for Mammolink, a provider of mobile mammogram services, to provide free 3-D mammograms on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Commission’s headquarters, located at:

McPherson Governmental Campus
601 S.E. 25th Ave.
Ocala, FL 34471

The event is open to all women regardless of insurance status. Participants do not need an appointment.

Staff from the DOH-Marion’s Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program will also be on hand to determine if women can enroll in the program. Those who qualify can obtain breast and cervical cancer screenings for free or at a low cost.

Getting a mammogram is the single most effective method of early detection, since it can identify cancer several years before physical symptoms develop.
