February 15, 2024

Ocala, Fla. — The Florida Department of Health in Marion County (DOH-Marion) invites the public to attend one of our upcoming “Shake the Salt” classes on Monday, February 26, 2024, or on Thursday, February 29, 2024.

The first class will be held from 1-2 p.m. on February 26 at:

Heritage Oaks of Ocala
2820 SW 34th St.
Ocala, FL 34474

The second class will be held from 11 a.m. to noon on February 29 at:

One Health Center
1714 SW 17th St.
Ocala, FL 34471

February is recognized as American Heart Month, a time to increase heart disease awareness and promote prevention and treatment in the community. DOH-Marion encourages all Floridians to adopt a lifestyle which promotes heart health and well-being, including maintaining healthy cholesterol levels, adding physical activity into your weekly schedule, and eating nutritious foods that compliment a healthy cardiovascular system. Nationally, as well as for Florida, more people die each year from heart disease than from any other cause.

Shake the Salt is a free, fun and interactive presentation offering practical tips on how to break up with the salt shaker. Find out how to make meals flavorful and tasty without using salt, one of the leading contributors to adverse health issues such as heart disease and hypertension.

No preregistration is required. For more information contact Melissa Marino at 352-644-2624.
