Marion County, Fla. — The Florida Department of Health in Marion County (DOH-Marion) invites seniors (ages 55-plus) to attend our “Staying Healthy as You Age” class on Thursday, February 22, 2024.
The event will be held from 11 a.m. to noon at:
Marion Oaks Community Center
280 Marion Oaks Lane
Ocala, FL 34473
February is recognized as American Heart Month, a time to increase heart disease awareness and promote prevention and treatment in the community. DOH-Marion encourages all Floridians to adopt a lifestyle which promotes heart health and well-being, including maintaining healthy cholesterol levels, adding physical activity into your weekly schedule, and eating nutritious foods that compliment a healthy cardiovascular system. Nationally, as well as for Florida, more people die each year from heart disease than from any other cause.
DOH-Marion is teaming up with Marion County Senior Services to offer seniors (ages 55-plus) our Staying Healthy as You Age class that helps participants discover ways to promote healthy aging. These methods include tapping into the power of a positive attitude; reaping the benefits of good nutrition, physical activity, and regular medical exams to promote the health of your cardiovascular system; stimulating the brain with mental exercises; and leading an active social life.
No preregistration is required. For more information contact Melissa Marino at 352-644-2624.
