Don't wait; register today for your COVID-19 vaccine

OCALA, Fla.—Starting Monday, April 5, anyone 18 years old or older (or anyone age 16 to 17 years old who comes to their appointment with their parent or guardian) can receive a COVID-19 vaccination. To help the newly eligible get vaccinated as soon as possible, the Florida Department of Health in Marion County is going to have a total of 8,000 first-dose appointments available from April 5-9.

“Don’t wait; register today for your COVID-19 vaccine,” said Department of Health in Marion County Administrator Mark Lander. “You will be first in line to be contacted for an appointment when we have these additional appointments available next week.”

How to register

Go to Marion.FloridaHealth.gov (or register directly at www.tinyurl.com/MarionCOVIDvax) to sign up for a COVID-19 vaccination with the Department of Health in Marion County. Residents without online access can call 352-644-2590 for assistance in signing up.

Once registered, you will receive notifications via phone, email or text as appointments become available. You will have two hours to confirm or decline the appointment from the time that the notification it is received. After two hours, the appointment announcement will expire, and if you were unable to reply or were unable to be vaccinated at the date/time provided, you will be placed back in the queue for the next available appointment.

When you receive a notification call about your registration, it will display as coming from the Department of Health in Marion County’s main phone number (352-629-0137). Email messages will be labeled as coming from Florida Department of Health in Marion County - Vaccine Distribution and will be sent by Everbridge; Everbridge is the appointment platform for the new registration site. Text messages regarding appointments will come from 88911. See the frequently asked questions on the new registration process for more information.

If you registered previously for a vaccine through the myvaccine.fl.gov site, you do not need to re-register in the new system. Your information will be transferred over to the Department of Health in Marion County’s new registration system for follow-up.
