DOH-Marion provides COVID-19 update, announces Reddick testing event

OCALA, Fla.—The Department of Health in Marion County is reporting 10,902 cumulative cases of COVID-19 as of this afternoon. This is an increase of 83 cases from yesterday (Oct. 29). Of Marion COVID-19 tests from Oct. 29, 6.38% were positive. The daily positivity rate for all new COVID-19 tests in Florida on Oct. 29 was 5.89%.

From COVID-19 cases reported Oct. 24-30, Marion saw an average of:

  • 38.9 new cases reported per day
  • 1 COVID-19 related death reported per day
  • 4.1% daily positivity rate

From cases reported Oct. 1 to 30, Marion saw an average of:

  • 37.6 new cases reported per day
  • 1.7 COVID-19 related deaths reported per day
  • 4.6% daily positivity rate

Reddick testing event to be held

The state Division of Emergency Management will host a one-day, free drive-through COVID-19 testing event in Reddick next week. Testing will be held at the Reddick Community Center (4345 NW 152nd St., Reddick) from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7.

To be tested, individuals should bring a valid photo ID; minors under age 18 will only be tested if they are accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. People should be prepared to stay in their vehicles while waiting for testing; restroom facilities will not be available. Only people who are being tested should be in the vehicle, with the exception of parents, guardians or caregivers. No pets are permitted in the vehicle during tests.

Testing will run until 4 p.m. or until all available samples are used, whichever comes first. For more information, call the Marion County COVID-19 Hotline Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 352-644-2590.
