DOH-Marion announces June COVID-19 vaccination dates

OCALA, Fla.—The Florida Department of Health in Marion County will be providing COVID-19 vaccinations at its main office in Ocala (located at 1801 SE 32nd Ave.) in June. Vaccinations will be provided on Mondays and Tuesdays from 3 to 6 p.m. Appointments are preferred, but walk-ups are available. To schedule an appointment, call 352-644-2590 during business hours Monday through Friday.

Both Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccines are available. Anyone age 12 years old or older can receive a Pfizer vaccine. Anyone age 18 years old or older can receive the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. A parent or guardian must accompany individuals younger than 18 years old who will be receiving a vaccination.

As of Friday, May 28, 153,558 Marion residents have been vaccinated for COVID-19 across all vaccine providers. This includes vaccinations performed by the Department of Health, hospitals, long-term care facilities, etc. More than 276,000 doses of vaccine have been administered to residents (includes first and second doses). The result – 42.6% of Marion’s residents are at least partially vaccinated, and 36.1% are fully vaccinated.

COVID-19 case update

Marion’s COVID-19 cases are trending downward. From COVID-19 case reports over the past seven days, Marion saw an average of:

  • 30.6 new cases reported per day
  • 4.3% daily positivity rate
  • 0.57 COVID-19 related deaths reported per day

In comparison, from May 1 – 28, Marion saw an average of:

  • 39.6 new cases reported per day
  • 5.3% daily positivity rate
  • 1.32 COVID-19 related deaths reported per day
