DOH-Marion provides COVID-19 update (Sept. 1)

OCALA, Fla.—Marion County is reporting 8,582 cumulative cases of COVID-19 as of this afternoon. This is an increase of 86 cases since yesterday (Aug. 31). Of Marion COVID-19 tests from Aug. 31, 6.53% were positive; the county’s cumulative positive test rate is 13.6%. The daily positivity rate for all new COVID-19 tests in Florida on Aug. 31 was 6.77%; the state’s cumulative positive rate is 13.48%.
From Aug. 1 to Aug. 31, Marion reported 3,427 COVID-19 cases and 119 new deaths in individuals who had contracted COVID-19. Rolling averages of case statistics during August showcase overall trends:
From cases reported Aug. 25 to Aug. 31 (7-day rolling average), Marion saw:
- Number of new cases per day: 64.3
- Daily positivity rate: 8.9%
- Cumulative positivity rate: 13.6%
- Number of COVID-19 related deaths per day: 5.3
From cases reported Aug. 17 to Aug. 31 (14-day rolling average), Marion saw:
- Number of new cases per day: 83.3
- Daily positivity rate: 10.3%
- Cumulative positivity rate: 13.4%
- Number of COVID-19 related deaths per day: 4.5
From cases reported Aug. 1 to Aug. 31, Marion saw:
- Number of new cases per day: 116.3
- Daily positivity rate: 11.3%
- Cumulative positivity rate: 12.8%
- Number of COVID-19 related deaths per day: 3.9
